A BEAUTIFUL EXAMPLE OF A WAR TIME CLASSIC!!!
This Dagger is in exceptional condition for age and rarity. Being 1 of 2,500 and retaining most of its original blueing, a sharp edge and an original sheath in almost like new condition. This is a prized piece for any collector! The sheath has one leg retainer loop torn through, see pic. Small amount of blueing missing from tip. The markings on this blade leave no question as to its
    authenticity
, pattern or history. You can buy this Wilkinson dagger and rest assured you are getting exactly what you are paying for. The broad Arrow I is one of a few daggers that can be definitely linked to Wilkinson manufacturing through paper work.
    The Broad Arrow I
MoS inspection mark of an ⩚I denoting Indian Government ownership.  This was part of an order for 2,500 knives on the 17th December 1943 supplied by Wilkinson.  The marking is always found stamped into the grip side of the crossguard.
Simply put, if any F-S knife has the word ‘ENGLAND’ stamped into the crossguard it is an indication that the knife is of war-time manufacture - but was imported into the US in the late 1940’s.  Such marks of course not only apply to late-war Third Patterns but also to mid-war examples as well.  In fact, many other variations of the F-S have been noted with this import mark.
The number 4 on the cast grip represents manufacture at Wolverhampton Die Casting Company. This is the only casting mark that has been positively identified to the maker. 1,2,3 are supposed.
The Mid war pattern III retains the hand forged blade and most of the pattern II design.
