    Description

Presented is a fabulous old French 950 silver chocolate pot. This piece dates to the 1700s and is almost certainly a pre-Revolution piece. The pot is made from 950 purity silver, which is a higher standard than sterling 925. The chocolate pot is done in a classical side handled baluster form, standing on three hoof feet. The pot is quite sturdy and well made from thick, heavy gauge silver, with a wonderful feeling of weight in the hand.
The pot is hallmarked on the underside with a crowned P, a partial crowned A, and part of a maker's mark. One of the legs is marked 'HOZ' or 'ZOH.' These marks are repeated on the interior of the lid. The lip of the lid is marked with an eagle's head and a bee or fly. These marks are repeated on the side of the rim.
This piece is in great overall condition. There are a couple of minor dings here and there, but nothing of any consequence in our opinion. One leg has an old solder repair, which is very hard to notice. The hinge of the lid is in great shape and the lid closes tightly. There are no splits, no leaks, no dents, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
The pot stands about 7 1/2 inches tall.
The pot weighs 406 grams or 14.3 regular ounces.
