Description

Available is an original and authentic World War II British No. 7 MK.1/L Bayonet.
This bayonet was one of 25,000 made by the Birmingham Small Arms factory (BSA) in 1945.
Subsequent production was carried out by four others makers from 1945 until 1948 until the total production run reached 176,000.
The bayonet's innovative design with its unique swiveling pommel allowed it to be both bayonet and fighting knife.  It could be used on both the
Lee Enfield bolt action rifle and MkV Sten sub-machine gun.
The bayonet has deep finger grooves in the hilt which is made of resin impregnated cloth called Paxolin. The clip point blade has a deep single fuller on both sides and is stamped on the ricasso with its designation "No. 7 M.K.1/L" on one side with an inspection stamp on the other. The length of the bayonet is approximately 12 ½ inches and the blade itself measures approximately 8 ¼ inches.  The swivel pommel bears the marks "M47B" on one side and "ENGLAND" on the other. The socket catch is also stamped.
The paxolin grips and the steel pommel both retain their original finish.
The blade is also in nice shape showing only light staining.
Overall, it is in very good condition, with minor wear and oxidation commensurate with its age.
Please be sure to check out the large photos I have posted and judge condition for yourself.
This is wonderful opportunity to own a piece of World War II and British history!
