Lionel Postwar O Gauge 810 2273W Milwaukee Road 2378 F3 Locomotive Set Box 1956

Description

Here is a VERY RARE, almost impossible to find Lionel 1956 set box for the deluxe diesel freight set that included the hard to find 2378 Milwaukee Road F3 diesel locomotives, several operating cars, and the Culvert Loader set!  This was a top-of-the-line freight train set for 1956!  Please note this listing is for the empty set box only!  No trains or accessories included!
Curiously, the sets were numbered either 810 or 2273W.  This box is the 810 variation, which I'm told is the scarcer of the two.  As you can see, the box is far from perfect.  As shown in pictures, one end has been repaired/reinforced from the inside with a cardboard sheet.  Looks like a decent job to me that keeps the box reasonably square and intact at that end.
Box does appear to me to be complete.  I'm told there are people who restore these boxes who can take "basket weave" paper material from more common Lionel 1950's set boxes and graft it to the missing areas on this valuable box to further enhance the condition.  Such activity is way beyond my knowledge and skill set, so I will leave any further restoration to the new owner.
Sold as shown in pictures.  The pictures are the final and most important description, so review them carefully and know what you are buying!  I will NOT consider returns and have this fragile valuable item shipped back and forth.  These are vintage display and collector's items sold as a project for the knowledgeable adult hobbyist.  These are old and will often need tinkering and TLC.  NOT sold as an everyday toy to be played with by a child.  Please ask and get answers to all questions before you bid.  Sold as/is, no returns.
Shipping is 24.99  This was one of Lionel's largest Postwar set boxes.  It will ship in a huge oversized box.  Most likely, depending on where you live, I will have to ship UPS Ground or FedEx Ground.  Accordingly, I will need a physical address, NOT a PO Box.  I only sell to the USA.  Thanks for looking!
