his
antique French ensemble is made up of a carving set, a gigot holder and twelve dinner knives. The elegantly shaped handles are ebony, the collars are silver and the upper parts are steel. The upper part of the gigot holder is quite unusual in shape. The dinner knives have handsome blades with rounded tips and the carving knife has a lovely curved blade. The blades are stamped with the name and the address of the maker, “

Frères, 1 rue Saint-Martin, Paris
”, active in Paris during the second half of the 19th
century. Offered in its original case, this set is in very good condition with only some darkening on the upper parts and very tiny cracks in the wood on some of the handles (not affecting the stability of the knives), all due to age and normal use.
