    This auction is for a very rare set of 2 French sterling silver salt dip inserts from the 18th century.  These inserts came with a set of French pre revolutionary salt dips I had purchased a while back, and I don't have a use for these extra inserts.  These inserts can be used as salt dips if you don't have the French silver salt dips.  The inserts are in great condition for their age with no noted chips, cracks, flakes, or fleabites.  The insert measures approximately 3 1/16" long, by 1 1/8" tall by 2 1/16" wide. If you are buying these to place inside salt dips you already have please make sure the salt dips are slightly bigger than the measurements I list above otherwise the insert won't fit.  I believe that these may be glass and I took pictures of the bottoms at an angle so you could see how old the glass looks so you could judge for yourself.
