Description
For sale is one of the rarest American coin ever minted: an 1875-S Twenty Cent Piece. The coin is so rare, in fact, that most people didn't even know the Twenty Cent Piece existed. That is because they were only minted for 4 years between 1875 and 1878, but 1875 & 76 were the only two years they made mint-state coins. The last two years they only made proof coins, making the mint state coins like this one even more rare. Only 1.3 million Twenty Cent pieces were ever minted total, and a good majority of them were melted in 1877 for the silver which was in high demand during Reconstruction. The coin is 90% silver, is about the size of a nickel, and has the popular Seated Liberty design on the obverse and the eagle found on the reverse of Trade Dollars. Twenty Cent Pieces are 90% silver. As you can see from the pics the coin is in well circulated, but still good shape. It would come in at an early G grade. Even with the heavy circulation, much of the lettering, date, and mint mark are visible. Even some of the feathers on the eagle's wings are visible. The coin has no excessive damage, no major toning, and it has not been cleaned.
This is a great and incredibly rare coin to add to any coin collection. Don't miss it! Thanks!
